The first part of this animation illustrates the different components of the device and also spins up the Control Moment Gyro (CMG). After the description is complete the shaft begins to rotate the CMG clockwise around the vehicle body. When the CMG reaches the 270 degree point of its rotation, the clutch mechanism engages and counterclockwise torque is momentarily transmitted down the connecting shaft to the vehicle. This action causes linear motion to occur over the entire body. This animation shows the working components of the device. However, a single CMG model has problems with eccentric imbalancing. Multiple CMG versions function without these problems and are illustrated in other animations.
