Our primary focus is the research and development of experimental propulsion technologies. In early 2006, APR Labs began testing a new technology called Omni-Directional Propulsion (ODP). ODP is a new form of propulsion technology that removes most of the gearing components from today’s common methods of propulsion and in doing so it can dramatically increase an engine’s output efficiency. ODP also removes the components that create the most drag in marine vehicles and aircraft by creating propulsive forces without propellers or jet engines. One of the most amazing features of this new propulsion technology is its ability to create movement in the vacuum of space without the thrust of rocket engines or the expulsion and expansion of gasses. This site contains pages with current animations showing the designs, SolidWorks images, reports, charts, and documentation that explains the technology. This Web site was created due to the recent completion of engineering reports by an independent engineering company that show thrust is produced by ODP. Please click the “reports” tab to view the engineering results. APR Labs will continue testing this technology and will update this site when any new developments occur.

NOTE: ODP does NOT use the principles of Centrifugal force, gyroscopic precession/phase lag, or the law of conservation of angular momentum to create velocity or forward momentum. Using these principles as a method of propulsion has been tried many times in the past without success and all such theories have since been disproven and have never produced any measurable thrust. ODP uses CMGs (Control Moment Gyros) only to provide torque in much the same way a gyro compass does to maintain a needle position and also in much the same way as the space shuttle uses CMGs to make attitude and position adjustments. ODP does not attempt to break any of the known laws of physics.

Timeline of Events:

07-11-2009 SolidWorks and CAD animations created by engineering firm Prairie West, LLC in Boise, ID shows propulsive forces are produced by ODP.

06-12-2008 APR Labs begins creating animations of ODP for computer testing of potential thrust.

01-09-2007 First Prototype built to test ODP theory. Movement occurred in device; however, thrust measurements were inconclusive due to eccentric loading. (See Documentation Page for Image of First Prototype)

01-04-2007 APR Labs releases press release titled "Aries Propulsion Research Labs and Omni-Directional Propulsion (ODP)" first description of design.

10-19-2006 USPTO Publication 20060230847 Titled: “Method and apparatus for gyroscopic propulsion”.

04-19-2005 ODP Provisional Application Ser. No. 60/673,011, filed. 60/689.595, filed Jun. 9, 2005.
